Description
The 7185 Series Linear Actuator, originally manufactured or cataloged by General Design (Midland-Ross Corporation), is an electric motor-driven acme lead screw mechanism that imparts linear motion to the output ram. The motor drives the screw through a planetary gearhead and a spur gear pass which positions the motor alongside the ram. The unit is also provided with position adjustable mechanical stops which limit the ram travel to a fixed zero position. The unit is designed to provide selected linear motions upon command to a gas turbine governor to control speed. It works at a nominal zero position (present length), and the mechanical stops are adjustable by turning the ram housing which moves the stops similar to a turn.
